about me

artshow1

the best time for me to stand in front of a blank canvas is when i feel something that i can only express in paint. sometimes it’s based off of an incident, a person, or an emotion, but it is all a part of my history. within each paint stroke, i work to translate these moments of my twenty-something years into something inspiring and visually stimulating. they are all pieces of who i am.

i believe in picasso’s philosophy “i paint objects as i think them, not as i see them” and the end result is usually unknown. i embrace my mistakes and the forgiveness of acrylic paint. like in life, they are usually what brings character to a canvas (i know, i know…real deep).

i studied studio art at santa clara university, but my individual journey really began when i graduated in 2007 and started painting in my quintessential shoebox of  an apartment in san francisco. many of my paintings embody bold, overlapping ideas, bright colors and layers, but all of my paintings are ideas i dreamed about communicating only in paint.

while painting is not my full time 9-5, it is a huge part of who i am. however, i’m always up for bad jokes, a good cup of joe and commission.
